Himachal Pradesh—Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a visit to Himachal Pradesh, addressed the public from the historic Chaugan ground in Nahan. He contrasted his government’s achievements with what he termed as the Congress’ “model of destruction.” “On one side, there is Modi’s guarantee, and on the other side, there is Congress’ model of destruction,” Modi declared.
Weak Congress and Strong Modi Leadership
Modi criticized the Congress era as a time of weak governance, during which Pakistan took advantage of India’s vulnerability. He accused the Congress government of pleading with the world rather than taking a strong stand. “When there used to be a weak government in the country, Pakistan used to dance on our head. The weak Congress government used to go around pleading in the world,” he said.
Controversy Over OBC Reservations
Targeting the opposition’s Indi alliance, Modi cited a recent decision by the Kolkata High Court that abolished the reservation for several Muslim castes classified as OBCs by the alliance. “The Indi alliance robbed the rights of OBCs and tore the Constitution to shreds,” he accused. Modi criticized the West Bengal Chief Minister’s refusal to accept the court’s decision, stating, “The Constitution and the courts do not matter to them. If there is anyone who is closest to them, then it is their vote bank.”
Congress’ Stance on Ram Mandir and Reservation
PM Modi accused the Congress of opposing the Ram Mandir for vote bank politics and conspiring to lock it if they returned to power. “For 60 years, Congress did not even think that there were poor people in the general category too. They also need reservations. But Modi came and made 10% reservation for the poor people of the general category without causing any conflict,” he asserted.
Strong Border Infrastructure
Modi criticized Congress for its reluctance to build roads in border states, fearing enemy infiltration. “Such cowardice thinking does not match with Modi’s temperament,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to strong border infrastructure.
Commitment to Himachal Pradesh
Highlighting his personal connection with Himachal Pradesh, Modi said, “The high mountains of Himachal have taught me to keep my spirits high. I cannot tolerate the insult of Mother India. Congress has a problem with saying Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Congress has a problem with saying Vande Mataram. Such a Congress can never do good to Himachal.”
Confidence in BJP’s Victory
Modi expressed confidence in the BJP-NDA forming the government after five phases of elections and predicted a clean sweep for BJP in Himachal. “Himachal will score a hat-trick with 4-0. We are the people of Devbhoomi; we never let even a single thing of ours go to waste. So, will any Himachali let his vote go to waste?” he urged.
Modi’s Pledge to Himachal
Concluding his speech, Modi promised, “Himachal Pradesh is a state adjacent to the border. The people of Himachal know the meaning of a strong and powerful government. Modi will risk his life for you but will never let any trouble come to you.”
With these remarks, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to development, strong governance, and the welfare of Himachal Pradesh, contrasting it with what he described as the failures of the Congress and the opposition’s divisive politics.
